April 29 - May 4, 2019

I did math today. Don't worry, I'm ok. There were automated formulas and I didn't math alone. The results revealed that this mail list has grown 30% over the last twelve months. Cool! Welcome new subscribers! So, I want to make a short introduction about us and our Birding & Nature packages.

We're four average Joe's doing something we love, for and with other people who love it too: bird and nature watching in almost heaven West Virginia. Rachel, Geoff, Keith, and Paul. We each operate our own small businesses and are otherwise employed and are active volunteers. The Festival is our favorite week of the year; we look forward to spending time exploring the outdoors with you. It's very meaningful to us that the Festival helps fund a local nonprofit that we know makes a positive impact in the lives of local youth and ultimately in our communities, since 2001. My favorite color is blue and I'm a Leo. Whoa. Too much information... I'll delete it later.

The Festival is a festival in the sense that we celebrate nature by exploring it, learning about it, and sharing it with planned and guided field trips, speaker presentations, and at the dinner table and on the back porch. It isn't a carnival and it doesn't have rows of vendors. Though a carousel would be awesome... definitely bringing that up in the next meeting.

All kinds are welcome here. People of all walks of life, from anywhere, and of any nature-knowledge skill level (from new backyard bird watchers to seasoned twitchers) are welcome here. Those who have been with us before, help make newcomers feel welcome and part of the New River Birding family. After all, we appreciate life in all forms.

Personalized packages begin at $225. Package options range from a single day without lodging (or lodging on your own) to all week with cabin accommodations. This way, we are able to suit a range of financial and time budgets.
Every package includes a daily field trip of your choice, three meals, and presentations in the company of world-class experts and fellow participants you will come to know as friends.
When you select a package with lodging, we handle the reservations for you through a special rate agreement with our partners that is passed along to you. Lodging check-in is the afternoon before your first field trip and check-out is the morning after your last field trip.
Field trip transportation is provided, with the exception of carpool trips. You do need your own transportation between your lodging, Burnwood, and Opossum Creek Retreat.
Payment can be made using links and information in your registration email, and I'll prepare and send a PayPal invoice within a day or two. A 30% deposit is required then you have until April to pay in full; I send a monthly reminder.
Directions, maps and other details are provided via email upon registration and prior to your arrival.

Start the week together again or for the first time, around a catered gourmet fundraiser Dinner in The Meadows, Sunday, April 28 at 6pm. Seats are limited and include special guests. The menu provides a vegetarian option and will be sent to those with reservations for selection. Look for it when you register.

I made two Easy Peasy links with preselected daily Gold Standard and Carpool trips and lodging: Country Road Cabins or Holiday Lodge hotel. Select the number of people in your party, enter your contact information and submit. Easy peasy.

As we enter the month of gratitude, the New River Birding family is on our list of things for which we are thankful.
Be well,
Rachel
