First of all I must start with a thank you to the people of the Burleigh electorate, for returning me as your State Member in November.
It was a tough campaign across the entire State and I am proud of the campaign the LNP fought. We announced 103 policies over the course of the campaign and made over 800 local commitments across Queensland. We focused on the issues that matter to Queenslanders. The creation of jobs and growing the economy to lift wages, dealing with the cost of living by saving families an average of $780 over three years and the building of the roads, bridges and dams we need across Queensland. And while we weren’t successful in securing the seats required to form Government, we will continue our efforts to hold the Labor Government to account and drive the jobs creation, building of infrastructure and lowering of cost of living that Queenslanders need so badly.
Moving on from the election, can you believe, we are two week’s out from Christmas!? Time really does fly but this year seems to have gone so much faster than others in many ways. Have you done your Christmas shopping and made it to any local carols yet? I’m looking forward to staying local and spending time with my wife, children and grandchildren but if you’re traveling to visit family and friends over the holiday period, please be safe on our roads. Adhere to the speed limits, don’t drink or text and drive, and be considerate to other road users.
Whatever you are doing, I wish you and yours, a very Merry Christmas.
Now onto what’s been happening and a snapshot of what is happening in the Burleigh electorate …
