Can you believe, we are two week’s out from December!? Time really does fly but this year seems to have gone so much faster than others in many ways. Have you done your Christmas shopping, and do you have plans to make it to any local carols?

Don’t forget, if you’re traveling to visit family and friends over the holiday period, please be safe on our roads. Adhere to the speed limits, don’t drink or text and drive, and be considerate to other road users. Whatever you are doing, I wish you and yours, an early very Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Now onto what’s been happening and a snapshot of what is happening in the Burleigh electorate …
Hart’s Hand-Up

I recently announced the deserving winners of round two of my Hart's Hand-Up Grants. Congratulations to the local community groups and individuals who received the $200 grant:

Next years rounds will be released early next year, keep an eye out on upcoming newsletters and on my Facebook page for details.

Caningeraba State School Premier’s Reading Challenge

One of my favourite local duties is visiting our primary schools and this month I got to visit the Caningeraba State School preps to hand out their Reading Challenge Certificates. In true youthful approach, they put me on the spot and hit me with some important questions … I was happy to say that yes I am human, no I don’t have a mullet and I do work right here in Burleigh.

Not so sure about style but I know that blue and green should never be seen at least.

Burleigh in Pink

Burleigh in Pink, Burleigh Wagon and the State Member for Burleigh ... noticing a theme here? I was proud to deliver my donation to the Burleigh in Pink’s Gala dinner to support their efforts in fundraising for breast cancer research.

They had another very successful event and one family bid big and walked away with their very own wagon for summer. With just the Golf Day fundraiser to go, I hear the Burleigh in Pink team are set for a record tally this year.

World Teacher’s Day

We celebrated World Teacher’s Day on October 25 and on behalf of the Burleigh electorate, I sent our teachers and the support staff a big thank you with cake! Crustie’s Bakery in Palm Beach outdid themselves with these delicious creations that I’m told were well enjoyed in staffrooms at the 9 schools in our electorate.

Local Sporting Clubs

We have some of the most amazing sporting clubs in the Burleigh electorate. I recently caught up with Palm Beach Soccer Club, Palm Beach Currumbin Cricket Club and Palm Beach Touch Football Assoc to deliver some brand new marquees.

It was great to see they’re making good use of the new marquees I was able to provide.
Burleigh Heads Markets

Don’t forget, I’m at the Burleigh Heads markets on the second Saturday of every month from 8am till around 11am schedule permitting. I’m there to say hi and hear from you, the good and the bad, about our community, so please drop by.
Baby Give Back

Because no child should go without a gift this Christmas, instead of sending out Christmas cards, I’m once again donating gifts to the Baby Give Back Christmas drive.

There is still time to get your gift in - they are collecting NEW toys for children aged 0-17 this year. All gifts need to be donated by November 20th so they have time to wrap and deliver them.

For the more mature there are food trucks serving up tasty treats and some smooth jazz to while away the afternoon. As the sun goes down we’ll sing along to all the traditional carols before the evening culminates in a spectacular fireworks display at 8pm.

Police community meeting - “Rapid Action Patrol making arrests across Gold Coast!”

Guest speaker, Senior Constable Andrew PERRETT, will tell us how the RAP (Rapid Action Patrol) are ready to pounce on crime immediately, across the Gold Coast! 4:45pm for 5:00pm start, Thursday 21st of November at the Currumbin RSL.
