Brothers,

It has been a great start to the Spring Semester. Our undergraduate brothers and new cabinet have a lot in store for the future of the Theta Tau chapter. Heading into this semester, we lead all fraternities in overall GPA with an outstanding 3.1 overall GPA! Coming off of our first semester with wet housing, we have shocked greek life here at Tech with such an outstanding performance in the classroom and in the community.
Pig Dinner Update:
Pig Dinner is April 8, 2017. We will be holding the dinner at Leslie Town Hall Center again this year. The dinner will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by an after party at the chapter house from 9:00 p.m.- 1:00 a.m. The dinner will be brothers only, but we encourage brothers to bring dates to the after party. Prices for pig dinner will be sent out after spring break.
This year we are also considering holding a golf tournament for graduate brothers on April 8th at 8:00 at the Golden Eagle Golf Club pending how many people would participate. Please use the link below to RSVP for Pig Dinner and other activities over the weekend.

PURPLE LEGIONNAIRE UPDATE

Bobby Adams (2015) is the newly installed Purple Legionnaire of the Theta Tau chapter.  He has worked with the undergrad chapter for the past two years as a member of the Board of Advisors in the role of General Counsel and is a current member of the 1848 club.  He is currently working on his Ph.D. at Tennessee Tech in Chemical Engineering.

Brothers,

I'm excited and honored for this opportunity to help give back to the chapter that has given us all so much in the past.  I've had the privilege to begin the position by working with a very strong and confident Cabinet as well as having two very supportive graduate brothers, Brent and Billy, to answer my stream of questions.

The chapters future is very bright and with continued graduate support, I believe we can further develop future generations of young men into Courageous Leaders within the Theta Tau chapter of Phi Gamma Delta.

I look forward to seeing you all at Pig Dinner in April!
-Bobby

P!
Just before the spring semester began, a few of our brothers studied abroad in Peru. On this trip, our brothers got to hike Rainbow Mountain. Pictured below are: Luke Shattuck, Bryce Allen, Tyler Shanks.

Spring Rush

This years spring rush was another successful rush week for the Theta Tau chapter. We went away from some of our traditional rush events this year, and it paid off. We had a casino night, a jersey night, and a paint party. All were successful, and as a result, we recruited 6 great new men to pledge Phi Gamma Delta this semester.
Jersey Night:
On Jersey night our brothers and potential new members all wore jerseys, and went to support the Tennessee Tech Men's basketball team. We filled the entire student section, and all who attended had a blast.
Casino Night:
Casino night was a success. Brothers and potential new members dressed as if they were going to a casino and played poker all afternoon.
Paint Party:
The paint party was a good time had by all. The event became way bigger than anticipated. Some of the members of the Tennessee Tech dance team even made an appearance to help with recruitment.
Delta Gamma Mixer:
As an attempt to reach out and build relations with other sororities on campus, our brothers hosted a mixer with the ladies of Delta Gamma. The theme was Delta Gamm and Phi Gamm Space Jam. We dressed in jerseys.
Brothers post infront of the banner for the mixer.

Pie In The Eye:
This year's traditional Pie In The Eye was a success. Some brothers got the enjoyment of pie'ing their little brothers, while others weren't so lucky and got pied themselves. It was a great time had by all who attended. Below are some pictures from this year's pie in the eye.

Party Like Your Parents Did
Friday, February 17th we had a "Party Like Your Parents Did" party with Sigma Phi Epsilon. The turnout was great and all brothers got festive and broke out their 80's and 90's clothes.
Undergraduate brother, Stephen English, borrowed some of his dad's old clothes for the party.
Philanthropy:
In recent years, we have seen a decline in interest among undergraduate brothers for our M.S. Island Philanthropy. After a lengthy chapter-wide discussion, we have decided to move away from Multiple Sclerosis. The chapter wants to have more passion behind our philanthropy, and we have decided to adopt USO as our new philanthropy. We have new ideas for philanthropic events and hope to have a positive impact on United States service members and their families.
Habitat for Humanity:
As many of you know, the campus wide homecoming project was to raise money for Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a local family in cookeville. Our brothers have taken this a step further. A semester later, we are now volunteering to actually help build the house we helped raise money for.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS

Water Polo: In its first year as an IFC intramural sport, water polo has been a challenge for most fraternities to get the hang of. Our brothers caught on quickly with three very lopsided victories over Kappa Alpha, TKE, and SAE. We finished 3-1 heading into the playoffs.
Our brothers wrapping up a blowout victory over SAE in Water Polo.
Basketball: We won 2 of 3 regular season games this season with wins over Kappa Sigma and Pike. Our brothers lost in the Semi-finals, taking third place in the basketball season, to Sigma Chi. We started off slow in the semi-final game but almost made a bigger comeback than the Patriots in the Superbowl. Unfortunately we came up just short.

HOUSE UPDATES

Camera installation update:
This semester we received cameras for security purposes and to prevent any vandalism. All cameras have been installed and cover almost every inch of the property. So far this semester they have been useful in finding a few stolen items from the chapter house, and identifying who has been vandalizing multiple fraternity houses on the block.
