New Website Offers Trail Conditions and Closure Info

The frustration of an unexpected trail closure can now be avoided by checking www.NoCoTrailReport.org. This new website offers real-time, official conditions and closure information for trails managed by Larimer County Natural Resources, City of Fort Collins Parks and City of Fort Collins Natural Areas.

The Larimer County Passport to Your Open Spaces

Items in the grand prize drawing include a tent, two nights in a cabin at Hermit Park Open Space, a $100 gift card to REI and Larimer County annual entrance permits.

Parks Master Plan

Alternatives have been developed, based on public input, for the future of Larimer County's four reservoir parks: Horsetooth, Pinewood (pictured), Flatiron and Carter Lake.

Larimer County is updating the master plan that guides development and management at its four reservoir parks. Using input from the public gathered this summer, alternatives have been developed for future use at these parks. The public can offer input on these alternatives online through Dec. 3.

One Year Later: Bison Gain Hoof-Hold, Boost Conservation

Has it been a year already? The Laramie Foothills Bison Conservation Herd first set hooves onto a 1,000-acre pasture at Soapstone Prairie Natural Area and Red Mountain Open Space on Nov. 1, 2015. Since then, the herd has expanded to 16 healthy animals and helped bolster two other conservation herds.

Lions Open Space Parking Area Reopens, Trail Fixed

The parking lot at Lions Open Space in Laporte has reopened to the public after being closed since mid-October for construction. Crews fixed the damaged section of the Pleasant Valley Trail and finalized repairs to the eastern riverbank. In the spring, they will complete the project by planting trees and shrubs.

All Boat Ramps Close for Season Starting Nov. 28

Red Mountain Open Space

Reminder: Red Mountain Closes for Season on Nov. 30

From December to February, Red Mountain Open Space will be closed because of winter weather conditions and wintering wildlife requirements.
