Emily's Digital Story
Emily's Story. This is the third in a series of six videos featuring members of the Friendship Center Community. Each video is as unique as the participant. Miss the first 2 videos, watch Bob's Video here and watch Sytha's video here.
The First plant sale of the season will be a joint fundraiser as The Holy Smokers join with the Seedtime and Harvest gardeners to create a neighborhood happening. The band, The Back of the Bus, will play classic rock and roll, the barbecue team will be selling pulled pork or bbq chicken plates with all the sides, including a drink, for $10 a plate. The gardeners will be supplying everything needed for Fall vegetable gardens (collards, kale, beets, etc.) and other plants. All proceeds will benefit the garden and Friendship Center. You can also pre-order take home whole smoked pork butts ($40, feeds 8-10, can be picked up anytime on Saturday Sept 19 during the event). Order your tickets online today!
A Note from Rev. Alexis,
There has been a lot of transition recently at the Friendship Center and we are happy and excited to say that programming is going on without a hitch; tomatoes and eggplants are ripening and being harvested, weeds are being pulled; paintings are being painted, bowls are being turned; bingo is being won – and lost; support groups are meeting, & health is being monitored.  The Yogis are stretching, the Singers are singing, and we are all enjoying community, conversation, coffee and Reonn’s hearty meals. We held a moving service of sending for Matthew and Sarah during a recent Wednesday Night’s service, and we are pleased that Julie Aring from St. Bart’s has joined the staff as part-time grant writer. I have temporarily stepped down as Chairman of the Friendship Center Board and I am excited to assume the position of Acting Director of the Friendship Center. Liz, our fantastic and capable Wellness and Recovery Director, is sharing some of the Director responsibilities with me. Friendship Center board member and vestry treasurer Tom Koch is acting as temporary Chairman of the Board. The Friendship Center at Holy Comforter will continue to provide this amazing community with the same high level of programming and support to which we have all become accustomed. The participants and staff here know that we are but stewards of this great place. I ask for your prayers and continued support during this time of transition. For those that would like to honor all of Matthew's hard work, we are asking that you donate to The Friendship Center in thanksgiving for everything he did for this place. You can donate online here.

Peace & Light,

The Very Rev. Alexis Chase
