This month, the Holtwhites pastry team has been busy behind the scenes developing our pâtisserie range. Those of you who have visited us on these cold Saturday mornings may have been cheered up by delights like Banoffee Tartlets and Tigres au Chocolat (at the bottom of the photo above) and our most recent trial, the Paris-Brest. 
If we trial something new and you like it, please let us know; we'll keep making the most popular.

Pâtisserie usually fills our counter on Saturdays, but this week we are taking orders for collection next Wednesday 14th February, Valentines Day, so you can put a smile on the face of a loved one with:

Valentine Ginger Biscuits - 95p each

  • Our best selling biscuits in the shape of hearts, men and women 
  • These can be personalised with a message or name (50p extra)

We can also put together little red hamper boxes containing any or all of the above, plus treats from our deli selection below - Valentine hamper box £2.50

Perfect French cheeses to dip into together...

Neufchâtel: Is a traditional French heart shaped soft table cheese from Normandy.  It's a little like a Camembert, a soft cheese with a billowy white rind, but the flavour of the cheese is earthier, nuttier and sharper. The cheese originates from the village of Neufchâtel-en-Bray in northern Normandy. Made from cow’s milk, it is one of France’s oldest cheeses, dating back as far as 1035. Who can resist a heart shaped cheese?!
Fromage de Langres: Another French classic sharing cheese, Langres comes from  the plateau of Langres in the region of Champagne-Ardenne, so naturally this cheese is best served with champagne. Tradtionally, served with a splash of champagne in the dip on top of the cheese, but cheese purists may prefer to serve their fizz alongside! 

Made from pasteurised cows milk, with a washed rind,  the cheese inside is semi soft, a little crumbly with a mellow and lightly salty flavour.

For our sparkling wine collection we have carefully chosen a selection from small wine producers that we think offer great taste as well as value for money. Choose from Italian Prosecco Sestiere Castello 4357, Spanish Cava Buche and French Le Brun de Neuville Brut Champagne.

Luscombe Damascene Rose Bubbly

If you prefer a non-alcoholic fizz we have Luscombe's organic Damascene Rose Bubbly, marries the essence of rose petals with muscat grape and Sicilian lemon juice to create a delicate drink.



A sweet addition to a hamper of Valentine treats, sparkling wine or flowers

Mini No.1 Liquid Salted Caramels  
THE original sea-salted caramels, invented in 2003 by Gerard Coleman for Gordon Ramsay’s menu at Claridge’s: a sweet liquid caramel with a pinch of Noirmoutier island’s grey salt, captured in a cocoa-dusted shell of intense dark chocolate. Copied but never equalled. Sweet, saline, liquid and velvety.

Boero Milk Chocolate Cherry Shot

Would you, or someone your know, like to join the Holtwhites Bakery team? 
We currently have 2 positions available:

Part-time Baker
Fridays and Saturdays - early morning starts! Training provided but understanding of sourdough baking essential. Email Richard with CV and cover letter.

Temporary Pizza Chef for Thursday Evenings 5.30pm- 8.30pm
This could be a nice little part-time job for a student aged 16 yrs old or above with a passion for baking (as well as eating) pizza. Training will be given on the job.
