Twice the Fun
Jon Wenberg and I just so happen to share a birthday on Feb. 25th, but this year rather than baking a cake, we're giving a performance of the Vivaldi Double Concerto in G Minor with the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra. Some of you know me primarily as a visual artist, but playing bassoon is actually my day job (which happens mostly at night...go figure).
If you find yourself in the Jackson area on Sunday, come out for the free concert at 3:00 at St. Andrew's Cathedral on Capitol Street. If you'd like a preview, click to watch video of a performance of the concerto we'll be playing. This is the first of the three movements (...and clearly isn't us. Jon doesn't plan on wearing a dress).
Julia Kirk (in the middle of the photo above) will be guest conducting the Mozart Impresario Overture, and the concert finishes with Beethoven's Fourth Symphony. The Vivaldi Concerto is the tasty cream filling in the middle.
