Hello Braillist,
A quick update on several exciting events we're involved with in the next few weeks including Sight Village in Manchester on Wednesday, the Perk Up Your Perkins and Braillists meeting happening in Bristol on Thursday and Friday, the Deaf Blind Enablement Annual Rally next Friday (6th October), as well as updates from Ed Rogers' trip to India and so much more on the forum.

Braillists will have a stand with Bristol Braille Technology and the latest Canute at Sight Village Manchester on Wednesday (27th September, QAC's event page). It will be a great opportunity to see the latest Canute in action, hear about its current developments and find out more about our activities. We'll also be joined by Ed Rogers straight back from his fascinating trip tracing the developments of Braille in India (more on that below). So join us if you can, it would be great to meet with you.

On Thursday (28th September) from 1pm to 4.30pm and Friday (29th September) from 10am to 2pm the RNIB in Bristol will play host to the 'Perk Up Your Perkins' event. There will be a fascinating exhibition of Braille writing devices and the opportunity to meet with Perkins repairer Alan Thorpe, who will also be on hand to clean and service your Perkins Brailler on site (fee applies for servicing). Find more information on the event page or by emailing organiser Paul Sullivan.

To accompany the 'Perk Up Your Perkins' event there will be a Braillists meeting at the RNIB in Bristol on Thursday (28th September) from 7pm to 9pm, where Perkins repairer Alan Thorpe will be speaking about "What's inside your Perkins Brailler" and demonstrating around a dozen other mechanical Braillers. Ed Rogers will hopefully also join to share his recent experiences in India and Sight Village Manchester. To find out more check out the forum post.

Next Friday (6th October) the Canute will be at the annual Deaf Blind Enablement Rally held at The Farmers, Broadway, Yaxley Peterborough ( from 11am to 4pm. Braillist Stephanie Sergeant will be there giving demonstrations. If you are interested in attending and getting up close to the latest Canute contact Stephanie directly by email to book your place.
