Braillists Foundation at Sight Village Central, 9th--10th & NFB 7th--13th of July
================================

The Braillists Foundation will be at Sight Village Central in Solihull on the 9th and 10th of July. Matthew Horspool is manning the stand, which is shared with Bristol Braille Technology CIC. Come along; try various types  of Braille equipment and hear our plans for the future.

TAVIP (the artist formally known as BCAB) are holding their Golden Jubilee Tech Chat Live event at SV Central too. Braillists subscribers are all kindly invited to attend after the first day of Sight Village. Meet at the Crowne Plaza, 61 Homer Road, Solihull, B91 3QD

At the stand we will be selling slates and stylus for £5 each to anyone already signed up to the newsletter, or willing to sign up. These are the Janus inter-line slates which take 3" by 5" index cards. We are promoting these after it was agreed in the Braillists London meeting last year that slates were much underused in the UK.

As the Braillists are sharing a stand with Bristol Braille there will also be a Canute 360 (now available for pre-order!) at Solihull for anyone wanting to try it out. Talk to Liam Smyth and David Sykes on the stand for a demo.

In other news, Steph Sergeant attended the Deaf Blind UK Exhibition in Peterborough on the 28th of June. Besides demonstrating Canute to the attendees she also distributed five of the Janus slates (for free). One of the regional officers is learning Braille at the moment and was intending on using the slates for labelling for her clients.

And finally, Braillist members Steph Sergeant and Ed Rogers are on their way to the National Federation of the Blind Convention in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, to demonstrate the Canute 360. They will be addressing the General Assembly and attending many committees, so get in contact with them directly via ed.rogers@bristolbraille.co.uk if you want to meet up.
