Hello Braillist,
We have a busy couple of months with Sight Village in London next week and the release of the Canute Mark 7, Bristol Braille's Braille ebook Reader prototype, in Bristol and Reading. We are also starting new Braillists groups.
If you are attending Sight Village London in Kensington Town Hall next Tuesday and Wednesda toy (3rd & 4th November) do be sure to come say hello to us at the Braillists stand. We will have Bristol Braille's Canute Mark 6 prototype on display and plenty of information on our forthcoming activities. We will also be hosting an informal 'Braille & Beer' event after the show on Tuesday (3pm - 5.30pm) at the Elephant & Castle, just 2 minutes walk from the venue. It's open to anyone with an interest in the future of Braille and will be a good place to meet others from the show or simply enjoy a relaxed, post-show drink. More details on the event page (http://braillists.org/?p=97) or ask us at the show.
Bristol Braille Technology will be releasing the Canute Mark 7 prototype of it's affordable multi-line Braille ebook reader in November. The team will be demonstrating it and Braillists will be getting their hands on it at Bristol Braillists on Monday 30th November (http://braillists.org/?p=101) and Reading Braillists on Saturday 12th December (http://braillists.org/?p=102). The latest prototype advances greatly on the Mark 6 thanks to collaboration with the Braillists groups and features individual line refresh, full page display and much quieter operation.
Due to a large amount of interest we are looking to start new Braillists groups. We will be holding an informal gathering in Manchester on the evening of Monday 9th November (http://braillists.org/?p=104). Details are still to be confirmed but do get in touch if you are interested in being part of a group in Manchester and we'll keep you informed.
We're also looking at starting groups in Birmingham, London, Peterborough, Sheffield and Worcester in the near future. Do get in touch if you are interested in being part of any of these groups or would like to get one going in your area.
We are posting meeting notes of our group meetings to our forum - so if you can't get to a meeting be sure to check out the notes and discussion there. You can sign up through our website (http://braillists.org/forum) or by sending a blank email to braillists+subscribe@googlegroups.com
