Our weekly Stay Safe Stay Connected Friday night Zoom call returns tomorrow evening (the 8th of May) at 6 PM UK time.
This week, we're inviting you to pour yourself a drink and join us for a pub quiz. The 8th of May is a bank holiday here in the UK in honour of VE Day, so we wanted to organise a fun session.
We've got questions on a range of subjects, as well as a couple of special rounds. You'll need some way of recording your answers to play (you could use a computer, the notes app on your phone, a Braille display or hand frame), and we'll be starting promptly at 6PM to make sure the quiz runs to time. A large number of respondents to our survey (see below) asked for a pub quiz, so we should have a good crowd with us in our virtual pub for a lively quiz!
You can join us via Zoom from 6 PM (UK time) on the 8th of May at https://zoom.us/j/227981901. You can also join us by telephone by calling +44 203 481 5240 and entering meeting ID 227 981 901 when prompted.
A few people have reported having difficulties following the links in our emails (this may be due to the software we use to send them). If the link doesn't work for you, the link at braillists.org/staysafe should.
You can also enter meeting ID 227 981 901 in your Zoom client to join the meeting manually.
We've been running Zoom meetings for seven weeks now, and would love to know what our community has thought of them, and what people want from us going forward! That's why we've created a short survey (it's accessible and takes less than 10 minutes to complete) to gather peoples thoughts. As a bonus, we'll be entering all survey respondents into a draw to win a £10 (or local currency equivalent) Amazon voucher. We'll be announcing the winner on the 15th of May.
You can complete the survey at https://forms.gle/CkZfBLdNWHgEsSGh9.
The Beginners' Braille Bar returns on Monday the 11th of May at 7PM. This week we’ll be discussing single letter word contractions.
Our Clever Cooking group will take place on Wednesday the 13th of May at 6PM, and we’ll be discussing bread making.
With warm regards,
The Braillists Team
P.S. UK time is UTC + 1 hour. Please make sure to check the correct local time before joining us.
