Ohio Ministries at Work

November State Pastor Greeting
Thanksgiving Greetings from State Pastor Dr. Esther Cottrell!
Giving Thanks

The weather is starting to get cooler. In the month of November, we often plan to join with family and friends around the table. Maybe you share with one another the ways in which God has been faithful to you throughout the year. Maybe you pray prayers of thanksgiving together. Perhaps you, like many others, breathe prayers of commitment to be more mindful of the ways God has blessed you and to be more grateful for what you have been given.
We want to encourage you and your congregation to find ways to demonstrate your thankfulness this year. We believe, as it was with Abram in Genesis 12, that we have been “blessed to be a blessing.” Try to find a way to give back to someone who has been a blessing to you: A thank you note, an anonymous gift to someone in need, a dinner invitation to someone who needs a meal.
If you have been blessed this year and would like to give back to others through the work of Ohio Ministries, you can make an online donation at http://www.ohchog.org/give/ or you can make a donation by mail to Ohio Ministries PO Box 276 Marengo, OH 43334
Ohio Ministries is thankful for YOU. The churches and pastors that make up the Ohio Assembly of the Church of God are extraordinary. We are thankful for the ways God is using the Church of God in Ohio to further the Kingdom of God. May God continue to work among us as we seek to be better together in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ!

2015 General Assembly
"Better Together"

The General Assembly of the Church of God in Ohio met on October 22, 2015 at Meadow Park Church of God in Columbus, Ohio. "Better Together" was the theme this year, emphasizing the importance of unity as Christians and as the Ohio Assembly of the Church of God. “Better Together” proved to be a perfect theme for the day, as the assembly heard updates on how God is at work in a variety of ministries that are being carried out, not just across the state, but around the world.  Read More

Todd Henry Webcast

The church is a place where we are constantly called to think creatively and yet, often that requires doing so under pressure. After years of ministry, it can sometimes feel as though the well of creativity has dried up.

On Thursday, December 10th, Healthy Growing Churches invites you to be a part of a free webcast with Todd Henry.  Read More

Pastors Peer Learning Clusters

We were created to be in community, but pastoral ministry can be a lonely profession, even when you are surrounded by people! Peer to Peer Learning Clusters (typically 5-8 persons living within 2 hours or less of one another) are groups of pastors who meet monthly over the course of two years to learn with one another and from one another. These groups are a safe place for you to transparently share your hurts and joys, your hopes and failures. It’s a place to be accountable to one another for the sake of the Gospel. Cluster groups are forming now, and it is not too late for you to join! Contact the Ohio Ministries office or register for a cluster group here: http://www.ohchog.org/news/pastors-peer-learning-clusters/

Congratulations to Hopeland Church, a church plant in Dayton, who baptized three new believers in June. Here is one note received by the pastoral staff a few months ago: “I went here for the first time this morning and as I was taking it all in I realized this is the kind of church I have been searching for, for years! It was perfect. The message was incredible and the worship was beyond amazing! I can’t wait to go back next week!!”

Cincinnati District Unity Service

Pastor Tim Kufeldt and the Dayspring Church of God hosted the annual unity service for the Cincinnati District this fall on October 25. During a joyous time of worship, led by the Soul-winning Church of God worship team, the collective congregation of more than a dozen churches, celebrated together what God was doing in the Cincinnati District. They celebrated biblical growth of our youth as they announced winners of the District Bible Bowl, honored pioneers of the Church of God in the district who sacrificed to plant and serve the churches represented in the audience, commissioned and financially supported with the evening offering the new churches being established in Miamisburg and Middletown, recognized the powerful ministries of our pastors and heard a strong message of call to b a missional church from General Director Jim Lyon, Church of God Ministries.

After the service, the saints were invited to continue this wonderful time of fellowship with refreshments and conversation.

Nueva Esperanza is Growing!

On Sunday, September 20, 2015, the Nueva Esperanza church was planted in cooperation with the Miamisburg First Church of God and with the leadership of Diego and Reina Mendoza. This new work has been a part of the Miamisburg First Church of God’s vision and mission as they engage their community, seeking to win people to Christ. Nueva Esperanza is the first Hispanic work in Miamisburg. We celebrate with Nueva Esperanza that they had 30 people in attendance on October 25!

Regional Midwest Meeting 2016
In July of 2015, the General Assembly of the Church of God voted to affirm a proposal presented at the General Assembly meeting that the Church of God Convention would meet in odd numbered years going forward, with regional meetings during the even numbered years, to encourage a larger regional participation. These regional meetings will take place across the United States and will be organized and carried out by the Church of God Ministries national staff. Each regional meeting will have the same speakers and worship leaders, as well as the same conference focus. The Midwest Regional Convention will be held June 21-23 at Madison Park Church of God in Anderson, IN. Each Convention will be paired with a “CHOG Table,” which will be a discussion forum to address the important issues of our time. For registration, lodging and programming information, head over to the Church of God Ministries website, www.jesusisthesubject.org.
