WHAT TO EXPECT

This Sunday, we are going back to the theme "Deep Roots: Parenting for the Common Good" one last time. In weeks past, we have looked at different forms of parenting. We began with parenting our own children, then we expanded our understanding of parenting to include caregiving as we focused on the challenges many of us face with caring for aging parents. Now we are looking at caring for children who are not our own.

This weekend (October 18-20) is the National Observation of Children's Sabbaths. This multi-faith weekend unites faith communities of every religious tradition across the nation to raise awareness of the problems facing children in our country (hunger, poverty, homelessness, and more) and to engage people of faith in immediate and long-term action to care for and seek justice for all children.

One way our church tries to care for and protect children in our neighborhood is through our partnership with Glenview Elementary School. We hope you will take a few moments to watch this video from our Director of Children's and Families Ministry, Lindsey Hinds-Brown, where she talks about this important ministry to Glenview and what it means for the Children's Sabbath this Sunday.

We look forward to seeing you and your families this Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Scripture texts for this week are Jeremiah 31:27-34 and Luke 18:1-8.

Come "Carve" Out a Good Time at
EBCA and EBPC's
Fall Festival!

Oct. 24 @ 5 p.m.

Our Fall Festival is back this year by popular demand! We are pleased EBCA is taking the lead for this joint event - we know it is going to be fantastic. In our previous years, we have tons of preschool friends, church members and youth group volunteers attend and participate in this event either by decorating their trunks, handing out food or volunteering at the carnival games. This year, we encourage you to support our EBCA students, families and staff by attending, decorating your car trunk, or volunteering to help! This fun fall event is open to all church, preschool, and community members.  It will be such a TREAT to see you there. We hope you will join us!
