What's Happening

1.  Help fight systemic racism locally and globally:  Donate to through FUMCB online here
, or by mailing a check to the church office. Please indicate that the funds are for Kiva when donating. All funds collected up to one thousand dollars will be doubled by a generous member of our congregation.

2.  Learn something useful:  Sign up for DISPROPORTIONATE:  RACIAL INEQUITY AND COVID-19, Sun., Sept. 27 at 4 pm  (September ACT Sunday) to learn about long-standing systemic health and social inequities that put People of Color in King County at increased risk of getting sick and dying from COVID-19.  Then, help select small businesses owned by People of Color in under-resourced communities to receive micro-loans.To register for this Zoom meeting, please click here

3.  Read a book about racism/anti-racism and join the FUMCB Book Discussion Group on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 3 pm via Zoom.

For Your Prayers
Consider spending some time this week in a moment of quiet reflection or prayer. Here are daily prayers, emailed to you Monday through Friday, from the UMC, focussing on racism and the need for change. 

Consider praying for the following:
  • The Seventh Day Adventist congregation which meets at our church.  Several of their single moms are struggling to make ends meet during this time of unemployment and uncertainty.
  • Please pray for Black peoples, Indigenous peoples, and people of color.
  • Please pray for the protestors.
  • Please pray for our country to be less divided
  • Please pray for the health of our community and those affected by COVID-19.
  • Please pray for Pastor Joe and his LGBTQ+ friendly medical clinic and church in Kenya
  • Please pray for Pastor Phil for wisdom, strength, and vision
  • The mission and vision of our Church 
  • Our church family and friends
  • The local community and our neighbors 
  • The United Methodist Church
