Rockin' Out With Los Gatos Negros

Sayuleros! While we are starting the season of cheer, Saturday kicks it off with a bit of haunting and hoppin' Rock n' Roll, courtesy of Sayulita's own Los Gatos! If you have never been to a Gatos show, you would be questionably-wise to not miss this event, their first (and last? who knows!) show of the season. You never forget your first, so come to Bar Don Pato on the plaza and be part of this Fabulous Disaster! Gabbi Gato, Drummer, questionable sometime-singer and general gato ne'er do well takes a moment out of breaking ears and hearts with his band to answer some questions!

Even More Reasons to Take a
Trip on the Chica Locca

For tourists and locals alike, a trip from Sayulita to the Marieta Islands is a day well spent. This uninhabited and protected national park offers incredible marine life and gorgeous sightseeing, but is accessible only by boat. A trip aboard the Chica Locca is an immensely fun way to visit the islands. Now celebrating their fifth season, owner Gil Drory’s vision is to provide “the most fun and comfort as possible,” and a trip on his boat does not disappoint.

Over the summer, worked with a professional drone flyer and video producer.

An Interview with the
President of Pro Sayulita

Pro Sayulita is a local, non-profit organization made up of volunteers from our community. This group works to improve the conditions of living in Sayulita and also works with the Mexican government to help secure funding for local needs. The current president of Pro Sayulita, Jack Jones, sat down with El Sayulero to share more about Pro Sayulita and why your support is crucial.

What's New With SayulitAnimals

The annual SayulitAnimals fundraiser and bar crawl, “Screw it, I’m wearing my shoes,” took place on Saturday, November 22nd.  Women donned high heels and cowboy boots for the occasion, and a few of the men wore their sexiest hats. It was a night full of fun, dancing, and laughter, all in the name of raising money to maintain programs for this animal welfare organization in Sayulita.

A Private Dinner Party by La Cuisine

Friday night, a few of us local Sayulita residents got together to enjoy a meal. Rather than go out to a restaurant, we had Xander Hermans, a private chef at La Cuisine, cook for us in the privacy of one of our homes.

Almost like Breakfast in Bed

Hotel Sayulita Central, located at Delfines 7, is the one and only bed and breakfast in Sayulita. This vibrantly painted B&B is perfectly situated between the beach and the town plaza, making it an ideal location for one’s stay.

Zen Garden Reinvents Itself

Zen Garden’s grand reopening was last month and wowed the Sayulita community. This rooftop lounge and restaurant has an ambiance that screams sophistication, while still giving off a welcoming vibe.  Soft purple and white light glows from overhead, and decorative lantern candles on each table provide romantic lighting. The tables and chairs are made from beautiful, solid, dark wood, and a cushioned bench with bright, colorful pillows lines one side of the rooftop. Live bamboo and a Buddha fountain adds to the tranquility of the space.

Where is Your Favorite Place to Have a Margarita and Why?

Matt Thompson
Nelson, British Columbia

I like the margaritas from the bar at the turtle camp because I don't like lime margaritas. They have a good selection of gourmet options.
Nayeli Ramos

YamBak. I feel like they treat me like family there. The atmosphere is very comfortable.
Matt McClusky
Denver, Colorado

Aaleyah's because it's 2 for 1 margaritas all day long and the owner uses tequila made by his uncle.
Jay Gearing
San Pancho, Mexico

Hotel Hafa. They're just really good margaritas. All fresh squeezed and made with fresh fruit. The staff is also very friendly.
David Beckett
Sayulita / Lunenburg Nova Scotia, Canada

Monchis. They make the best cucumber margarita in town. It is also a great place to people watch with a great view of the plaza.

Pet of the Week

Hi there. My name is Flor. I belonged to someone here in Sayulita who thought he took good care of me, but the fact is, he did not. I caught the attention of a wonderful lady who picked me up and saw that both of my ears inside were covered with ticks. She got me out of the bad situation and now I'm looking for a special person who loves little scruffy dogs. I love giving kisses and cuddling, and I love life. I'm a happy girl now. Let Sayulitanimals know if you are looking for me!
