From The Editor's Desk:

Happy Friday!

As every Friday the past several months, the Mercado del Pueblo is taking place. However, the market will soon be coming to an end for the season. So, make sure to start stocking up on all of your favorite market goodies!

This week we are kicking off a new interview series called "Meet the Chef." In this issue, you'll learn how Roman Alvarez, the chef of Leda Italian Restaurant, got his start as a chef, his favorite fresh Sayulita ingredients to use, what his last meal would be, and more.

The days here in Sayulita have gotten slightly hotter, but the nights and early mornings have remained cooler. This is a great time of year to be in Sayulita.

Thank you for reading this edition of El Sayulero!

BODY RESTORATION MASSAGE STUDIO AND BOUTIQUE IN SAYULITA: A MASSAGE TO REMEMBER

I don’t get massages nearly often enough, so as I was headed to Body Restoration Massage Studio and Boutique in Sayulita, I was very much looking forward to it. The owner, and massage therapist, Alejandra Montoya has a wealth of experience, including working as a traveling massage therapist with the performers of Corteo, a Cirque Du Soleil show. Having studied various styles of holistic bodywork and massage therapy, her massages incorporate Swedish, Thai, deep tissue, and hot stone massage, as well as pressure points, and I knew I was definitely in for a treat. Read More

A HOT NEW BAND IN SAYULITA:
AN INTERVIEW WITH TREVA DEA

So, there's a new band in town? Tell us the name and a little bit about your members.

We are a duet, and we call ourselves Estrella Luz, or Starlight. Gerardo Ramirez Campos is on guitar and I am singing. Gerardo has been playing at different venues around Sayulita for years. He plays many different styles of music so well, and I love that he and I are playing Jazz together.

What type of music are you crooning?

We are doing Jazz standards from the 40s and 50s, lovely songs that usually have a big band behind them, but are so different and evocative when pared down to voice and guitar.

EARTH DAY AT CVIS

In the 1970s, after a large oil spill in Santa Barbara, the United States held the first Earth Day to raise awareness about our impact on the planet. From that first event, the message spread, and since 1990 Earth Day has been celebrated in countries all around the world. It is a day when people make an extra effort to positively impact the environment. This annual event is a reminder that we need to take care of our planet if we want our planet to take care of us. The message is now more important than ever. Last year was the hottest year on record since reporting began in 1850, and scientists attribute this rise in temperature to human activity. The good news is that more and more people are becoming aware and changing their ways for the sake of our future. Read More

PET OF THE WEEK

Hola, I'm Giorgio and I'm just a really cool guy! A few weeks ago I got picked up by a very kind lady. I was a mess! I had no fur from severe mange, I was skinny, sick, and scared. Now look at me! I'm friendly and a little shy with strangers. I'm about 1 year old and only 8 kg in weight. I would so very much like to find a human friend to love. Could that be you? Contact SayulitAnimals here
