HEALTHY EATS: EL FORTIN'S ACAI BOWLS
Sayulita is home to many health-conscious restaurants and cafes. In 2014, El Fortin opened their cafe in Sayulita, offering quite arguably some of the best coffee in town and a one of a kind superfood dish, Açai Bowls. Açai (pronounced AH-SAH-EE) is a superfood fruit originating from Brazil. This berry is loaded with antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins.
Sandra Aldao, originally from Argentina, and Amaranta Ferrao, originally from Brazil, create beautiful, authentic, handmade leather items. The two women first met in Sayulita in 2003, and sharing a love of fashion and design, began working together in 2009. In 2012, these talented women opened their own store, Areias Leather, in Sayulita. Sandra and Amaranta tell El Sayulero all about their store, their creative process, their best selling purses, and more.
One of my most favorite things to eat in Sayulita is salad with homemade salad dressing. Before I learnt that salad dressings are so easy to make, I used to use bottled dressing. But, guess what? I never finished my salad. Then I discovered homemade salad dressings, and now I always finish my salads! So, today I thought that I would share my two most favorite salad dressings: Caesar and Hollyhocks's Engivita Yeast. These dressings are sure to impress your Sayulita friends and family too!
My name is Carmen and I'm a young (under 1 year) wire haired fox terrier/chihuahua mix. I am friendly, playful, and cuddly, and great with other dogs and cats. If you are interested in dog sports like flyball or agility, I am the perfect dog. I am eager to learn and love to sleep quietly in my crate! I need a permanent home now!

ESCUELA PARA NINOS Y FAMILIAS
We are planning to start a cooperative preschool for local 3, 4 and 5 year olds in Sayulita. The school will be housed in the Cultural Center (tentative based on expected written agreement with ejido) and based on the Montessori approach. Tuition will be free for those families who are able to become full partners with us. A full partner is one who donates their expertise and experience through an activity such as painting, furniture building, teaching a special topic, or cooking. If a family is not able to provide such assistance, they will pay a small tuition.
We are using the Montessori approach which promotes a mixed age group and active learning. The children, under the guidance of a trained Montessori teacher, learn from each other in a very tactile, sensory environment. We have had two community meetings to ask parents what they are looking for in a school. We have heard they want their children to learn English and engage in an environment that sparks their interest in learning.
We would love your support. Here’s how you can help: Sponsor a child. Help build a playground. Identify a local assistant teacher. Identify non-ejido property to lease.
We are in the process of establishing both a civil association in Mexico and a 501(c)3 in the United States.
We plan to start in 2017 and are vigorously working toward that goal. For more information, please contact us here.
