From The Desk of
Ian and Kerry Hodge:

Kerry and I are greeting you for this edition of the El Sayulero, because we cannot say enough about the importance of FIESTA, the major fundraising event for Pro Sayulita, coming up Wednesday, March 16th at 5PM.

Rental owners, Business owners, Residents and All those who love Sayulita:  Supporting Pro Sayulita and the Fiesta Fundraiser is probably the most important thing you can do all year for our awesome pueblo.

For more than ten years, Pro Sayulita volunteers and donors have worked to improve Sayulita with a myriad of continuing, quality-of-life necessities.

Where many of us come from, a municipality’s necessities are provided by local government. While local government is at work here, there is simply not enough funding to go around; check out your Mexico property tax bill.

Please read the excellent interview below with Damien Porter; it is perhaps the best, most important interview we have ever published. The Fiesta fundraiser would not be possible without the immensely generous contributions from this 20+ year, super-involved resident. Along with others, Damien is super-committed to the work of Pro Sayulita, believing it to be the best organization in our pueblo. Besides donating many of the key elements for Fiesta, Damien also gives of his time as an active board member of Pro Sayulita.  He is among a great group of role models for all of us.

As Sayulita rental and business owners ourselves, Kerry and I know how kind the Sayulita economy has been to all of us over the last few years.  Now it is time for all of us to return that kindness by giving back.

Get your fiesta tickets at the Friday Market today, La Hamaca, or online.

Please give.  Go to this awesome event and buy auction items. Whether you give or not, you will reap the benefits of others who do give.

Please give. Sign up for the easy monthly donation plan at:

Please give! It really does take a village.

Tierra Viva Restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, first opened approximately seven years ago. Two years ago, Charlie and Melanie Vinge began running the day operation and in November of 2015, they also took over the night operation. Immediately setting forth to offer a unique experience for Sayulita locals and tourists, as well as an ideal spot for events and celebrations, they started construction of the Tierra Viva Terraza. Debbie Krejci - Owner of I Love Yoga Maya

Yoga is one of those practices I've learned to appreciate the older I've gotten. I used to think if I wasn't huffing and puffing, it didn't count as a workout. However, these days I’ve come to look forward to the quieting of the mind, the poses, and the way my body feels stronger after a yoga class. So, Thursday morning when I arrived just before 9am at Villas Sayulita for Debbie Krejci’s I Love Yoga Maya gentle-ish Vinyasa class, I was very much looking forward to it. Read More

I'm Shanks and I am a miraculous dog. I survived the biggest ordeal you can imagine. I was left on a roof top with two other dogs without water, food, or shelter. My two friends died a horrific death, but I survived and got rescued just in the nick of time. I'm a 1 1/2 year old Belgium Shepherd. I need to be challenged mentally because I'm super smart, and I love to run. I am looking for a best friend who knows and loves my breed, who hikes and plays with me, and who teaches me stuff.
