Take Your Video to the Next Level

High Five Access Media offers free video production training so you can learn to make media and express your ideas with the community on television and the internet. But what happens after you've completed a workshop? Oftentimes, you're feeling overwhelmed and uncomfortable with the video-making process. The key to getting better is practice, and tutorials offer a great way to gain experience at your own pace.

Fortunately, the Eagle Valley Library District makes access to tutorials simple, and free. The library provides cardholders with a subscription to Lynda.com. For those of you unfamiliar with Lynda, it's a website focused on providing users with video tutorials on a variety of subjects, including "business, software, technology and creative skills," according to the site.

To get started, visit the district's Digital Resources, scroll down to Lynda, and click on the At Home Link if you're not physically at the library. Now, create a profile using your library card number, which you can find on the back of the card. You're ready to get started.

The Federal Communications Commission is threatening to dismantle Net Neutrality. You ask, what is Net Neutrality and why should you care? It's a framework for governing the internet in the United States that allows for freedom of expression, innovation, and access to information. We can't say it better than it already has been said, so find out more from Free Press and take action!

January Board Meeting

The High Five Access Media board of directors, a group of dedicated locals just like you, will meet Jan. 17 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the High Five Access Media Center in Avon. The group meets once a quarter to discuss strategy, funding and policy. Meetings are open to the public, and input is welcome during the public comment portion of the agenda.

If you would like the board to consider taking action on an item, please submit a detailed proposal ten days in advance of a meeting. Agendas typically are available the Friday before the meeting. For agendas, materials and more information, email info@highfivemedia.org.

Dates, times and locations are subject to change, so visit our Board of Directors page for updates.
