The Miijim Market, meaning "food market" in Ojibwe, provides an opportunity for anyone in the community to have access to fresh, local foods including fruits and vegetables, at greatly reduced prices. It’s also a place for the community to come together, socialize and take part in a variety of free food-based workshops. Come out and support our community every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm at Operation Grow in Midland. For more information, click here.

Construction of the Chigamik Waypoint Community Health Hub has Begun

Chigamik and Waypoint are pleased to announce that the construction of the new Health Hub on Bayshore Drive in Midland has begun!

The development plan includes the following:

  • New modern medical building has an innovative design and site location that uses the hill that is part of the property to not impose upon the residential community.
  • A safe and secure building and property that welcomes those using the health services, neighbours and the community.
  • Design aspects include a stunning building façade, nighttime lighting, sidewalks and landscaping that complement the adjacent parkland and the new proposed waterfront development across the street.
  • Local, regional and provincial construction and building suppliers are involved with this project helping to provide work and creating economic spin off for our area and region.
  • Waypoint and Chigamik continue to work through the approval process required by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
  • We are working towards the new building being open to the community in December of 2018.

Stay tuned as we continue to keep our community up to date!
