The screening of the film "MILK" was a success! The film panelists included Noemi Weiss, Film Director, Kim Alderdice, Midwife from Midwives Nottawasaga, Anj Limmer, Doula, Dr. Emily Queenan, Family Physician, Queenan Family Medicine and Maternity Care, Brandi Stephenson, mother of three and breastfeeding advocate, and Mona Loones, Clinic Manager at CSC CHIGAMIK CHC and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. The evening was presented by the North Simcoe Breastfeeding Coalition and co-sponsored by CSC CHIGAMIK CHC. Thank you to all who came out to support the event!

North Simcoe Health Link and Georgian Bay General Hospital Win Award at Health Quality Transformation
The North Simcoe Community Health Link (NSCHL) and the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) were honoured with a 2016 Health Quality Transformation Distinction Award, a province-wide award given by Health Quality Ontario (HQO). The award recognizes the work done by the NSCHL and GBGH towards improving patients’ health care experiences, decreasing usage of the hospital’s emergency department, and leading by example for other healthcare organizations who are seeking to address the social determinants of health in their communities. Negik is a self-taught artist from Midland, Ontario whose work is meant to heal through colour, shape and form. Having been influenced by the work of Norval Morrisseau and Daphne Odjig, Negik’s art is inspired by sharing his personal life stories and the stories that people share with him.
Negik’s work has been displayed at the Ojibwe Cultural Centre on Manitoulin Island and The Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, Ontario. He won the People’s Choice award at the Midland Cultural Centre and was recently featured on CBC Radio. Negik currently lives in Midland, Ontario.
