ConGRADulations to Roxana!

2020 is a strange time to graduate high school, but it is also more impressive than ever! Our corpsmember Roxana V. graduated from John Muir Charter School earlier this month, becoming the first in her family to attain her high school diploma.

Roxana was cheered on by friends, family, fellow corpsmembers, staff, her JMCS teacher and, most importantly, her son. Her fellow corpsmembers applauded her hard work and great sense of humor. Roxana's speech covered all she has learned at CCNB, and how she wouldn't give up even when she wanted to. We are so proud of Roxana for achieving this milestone and can't wait to see what she does next!

Impressive Job Placements

Despite everything happening in our world this year, CCNB had many positive placements with corpsmembers in career-oriented jobs after they successfully completed our program.

Here are some of the lucky employers:

  • Sonoma County Regional Parks
  • PeopleReady
  • Poncho Tiles
  • Trueblue
  • Amazon
  • CCNB
Some of these former corpsmembers are already earning over $20 an hour, and we are so proud of them for taking these next steps!
Workplaces Look Different, But Workplace Giving Doesn't Have To

You may be working from home and seeing your team a lot less, but that doesn't change the community and values of your workplace. Ask your employer about company matching and other giving opportunities! CCNB participates in the Local Independent Charities and United Way of Wine Country campaigns.

Many employers offer to match your donation, effectively doubling your impact. Donations through workplace giving are still tax-deductible and you can choose any amount you are comfortable with! Donations like yours help provide the social support services that help our corpsmembers graduate high school, earn scholarships, and get job interviews.

Did you know?

The recent federal CARES Act allows you to deduct up to $300 in charitable contributions. Charitable donations (up to $300) made between Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2020 to qualifying nonprofits may be deducted from taxable income without the need to itemize the deduction.
