RECENT UPDATES
- LACY RD AND SEMINOLE/LACY INTERSECTION CONSTRUCTION— Construction continues. The roundabout is expected to be completed before September 1.
- SYENE ROAD PHASE 1 RECONSTRUCTION— Curb and gutter will be poured for the Syene & Lacy project, with paving in a couple of weeks. If all goes according to plan, this intersection will be open by the end of the month. Next is E. Cheryl & Lacy which is scheduled to be done by the end of October.
- 2023 STREET RESURFACING— Council recently approved 39 streets for resurfacing. Find the maps here.
- JACQUELYN DRIVE ROAD CLOSURE— Jacquelyn Drive will be closed, local traffic only, from August 7, 2023, through October 1, 2023, to facilitate water main replacement and road construction. Find out more.
- CIP IS ADOPTED, 2024 BUDGET PROCESS BEGINS— the council recently adopted the 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). 2024 budget process has begun, more info to come.

- AUG 21 CONCERTS AT MCKEE— Final concert of the year! We’ll be handing out cookies celebrating the 40th year anniversary of the city. 6 to 9pm at McKee Farms Park.
- AUG 24 MOVIE NIGHT AT SOUTHDALE PARK—Minions: The Rise of Gru movie starts at 7:45 p.m. Bring your own chairs or a blanket and you can carry in your own snacks for this movie!
FUN TIDBITS
- FITCHBURG HAS ELECTRIC VEHICLES!— The Recreation Department and Water Utility just received their Ford F-150 Lightening trucks after a long wait. These are the first electric vehicles the city has ever owned. We look forward to seeing how they perform in the coming years.
- SHINE ACHIEVES VISIBLE PROOF OF FUSION—SHINE, a Wisconsin company that recent opened a location in Fitchburg, has an exciting finding of visible Cherenkov radiation, which indicates their fusion technology may be commercially viable. Read the exciting press release.
